Exhibition: Threads of Witness by Frances Crowe

Runs from 19 June – 26 July

Opening Launch: 18th June 7pm

Weaving together art and empathy, Frances invites audiences to experience Threads of Witness – a powerful exhibition of large-scale tapestries that confront the emotional weight of humanitarian crisis through the timeless language of textile.

The repetitive gestures of weaving – gathering, crossing, binding – mirror our shared human experiences of grief, resilience, and the search for meaning amidst destruction.

Each tapestry is both a visual and emotional landscape, where the repetitive gestures of weaving – gathering, crossing, binding – become acts of remembrance and resistance.

Far from passive observation, these story cloths demand presence. They stand as elegies for the lost and affirmations of our interconnectedness, regardless of geography or politics.

Director of An Táin Arts Centre Paul Hayes said ‘We first worked with Frances on Threading the Táin in 2022 when she was one of the facilitators of 40 volunteers who produced 5 tapestries were created to celebrate the Táin Bó Cúailnge. I am delighted to be bringing this wonderful new exhibition to Dundalk.’

This deeply moving exhibition is not just about witnessing suffering, but about recognizing the threads that bind us all. Visitors are encouraged to engage with the work at their own pace in a space designed for quiet reflection and shared humanity.
