June to August 2025Louth County Council will host 3 afternoons in each Municipal district of “Bag it. Bin it.” Community Awareness Days this summer as part of their six-month Dog Fouling Awareness Campaign, proudly sponsored by PetSafe. These family-friendly events aim to raise public awareness about the environmental and health hazards of dog fouling and encourage responsible pet ownership across the county.

Event Dates and Locations:

  • Ardee – Saturday, 29th June, 2:00–4:00 PM
  • Dundalk – Saturday, 13th July, 2:00–4:00 PM
  • Drogheda – Saturday, 10th August, 2:00–4:00 PM

Each afternoon promises fun, music, and community spirit, featuring:

  • Live performances from the Ardee, Dundalk, and Drogheda Brass Bands
  • A lively Dog Show Competition (Best Trick, Waggiest Tail, Cutest Dog, Best Dressed)
  • Face painting with a dog-theme
  • Mascots dressed as dog poop emojis to humorously spotlight the issue
  • Instagram photo frame to help spread the message online
  • Free doggie giveaways, including hi-visibility dog coats and bone-shaped bag dispensers

Information stands will also be available from:

  • Dundalk Dog Rescue
  • Local litter & Dog Wardens

And the Community Gardaí will be in attendance.

These events are designed to educate, engage, and celebrate efforts to keep Louth’s public spaces clean and safe for all. As part of the initiative, Louth County Council recently held a children’s art competition, which received an enthusiastic response from local schools.
